Warrior monks do a whole lot of things people doesn't expect. I could tell you some stories...I never had any of that Matt, don't worry. The good company will be enough.
He tried to kill me, I could tell that he was a man used to blunt approaches an extreme tactics. [Danny doesn't hold a grudge against the man, even after what happened. And he could tell he was important to Matt.]
If you don't go with him, but against him? Yeah, he'll try to kill you. He doesn't care about anyone, but himself. [But Matt does, mostly because of what happened to he and Elektra and the rest of the Chaste. It was a double edged sword. He was important to Matt, in that he taught him how to fight and survive, but he was abused at the same time. He probably wouldn't admit it.]
He reminded me a bit of Lei-Kung, the martial arts master of K'un Lun. He was the man who trained me and well, let's just say there's a reason why he's called The Thunderer.
[Danny has all the respect for him but not all of Lei-Kung's teaching were beneficial to Dany's mental health. He's the main reason why Danny sees himself more like a thing than a person.]
So Le-Kung was your Stick, huh? Now that he's gone, I can truly say I feel a bit more free. But yet, I still mourn him. This is genuinely fucked up. [he shakes his head]
I hope that we are Hand free for the foreseeable future. I'm heading out now. See you in about 10 minutes.
Yes, he was. I don't think there was time to give Stick a proper burial, you might still be lacking some closure. K'un Lun had...rites and preaching. I know you are Catholic but Stick was the Chaste, so perhaps he would have liked it more that way. I know the sutras needed for the occasion if you would like to do some sort of small ceremony.
[He's sure seen enough people die back in K'un Lun to have all of those memorized.]
Me too, I had enough of them for a lifetime. I'll see you soon.
[Danny makes sure his hair isn't too much of a mess and his clothes look decent before he shows up at their meeting point. He greets the other man with a warm smile, more than happy with the idea of getting to know each other better.]
Yeah, true, but the police will have to figure that out. It was deemed a homicide, so...yeah.
Who knows what he'd want. If I find out where he's buried, if he's buried...maybe I'll pay my respects.
[Matt makes his way out the door, cane in hand, glasses on, just clad in blue jeans and a black t-shirt, with sneakers. When he hears his name, he smiles from the table he's found for them]
Hey, Danny. So...what do you think of Josie's? [It's an aquired taste, that's for sure]
Oh right, his whole body is a ...how do you lawyers call it? Corpus delicti? We can always ask Misty once she feels better.
[Now there's no point in worrying about that. He spots Matt rather quickly and walks over him, sitting near the man. Danny's also wearing comfortable clothes: light pants, and a dark green casual button-down shirt. With bright yellow shoes, of course.]
It's like nothing I've seen before. [Danny announces cheerful, a smile on his face. Well, he isn't lying. He's never been in a bar like Josie's, undoubtedly For good measure, he also gives the woman behind the bar a warm smile before his attention turns to Matt. He makes a 'hmm' sound of appreciation.] And I don't think I've ever seen you this casual before either. It looks very good on you.
I've been watching movies lately, the term showed up in one. You know, I didn't realize how much I missed tv until I came back. [No media industry in K'un Lun, it was a pity. Not like Danny had free time to do anything elsebut train and chores.] The last time I watched a tv show, Power Rangers were all the range.
[The admission comes out as rather sheepish and while Matt can't see his face, he probably can tell by the sound of Danny's voice.] Heh. I suppose that means I can enjoy the view without you noticing. Hm...maybe I shouldn't have said that, though.
[He keeps the tone light, half joking half not. Matt does look really nice.] I'm nto used to drinking, a beer for me is good too.
[He motions to the bartender and soon enough there's a cold bottle in his hands. Matt wasn't mocking, Josie's is a really colorful place, both in lights and clientele.] I'm almost afraid to ask how and when you found this place.
I think it was Bridge of Spies? I mix the titles, sorry. And I can understand why Tv isn't your favorite media. What about hip-hop music? [Danny should totally lend him his ipod.]
It was a really silly show but that was part of the charm. Everything was so over the top that you didn't have to worry about that kind of things happening for real. [Not like now, in the real world. Where monsters wear suits or sell venom on the streets.]
Yes, I know. [Hard to miss with the whole Elektra affair.] Dangerous girls at that, but we have that in common. I'm with Colleen, remember? She's a sweetheart but I'm sure she could also kick both of our sorry asses if we pissed her off.
[Danny smiles, clicking their bottle together.] To a better future.
Sorry, it seemed like Danny was flirting/hitting on him. LOL
I'm not up with movies anymore, so I'm sure it's an appropriate reference. [he nods, taking another sip]
No, just 90s Top 40, for the most part. [he shrugs]
Yeah, it was silly and fun. And to think I was able to do that kind of fighting later on. [smirk]
Yeah, her...but, there are so many that weren't lethal too. [Like Karen, who he put through hell again.]
[Matt laughs at his discription of Colleen] Damn straight! I know what she can do with that sword and in close quarters combat! She's amazing. Now, if she could get Claire to back off, that would be great. Claire has no idea what she's up against, nor does she have the skills yet.
Roflmao, no it's fine. Danny was just being Danny. He's got no brain to mouth filter
I imagine you have little free time for those too. You are really not missing much, life is stranger than movies.
[He laughs softly at that and takes a sip of his own drinks.] Yeah, who would have guessed. Shame we don't have giant transformers robots, those were fun. Not very good for stealth operations, though.
Not for me, Colleen is my first. [Girlfriend, he means, but in many ways she's the first at everything in his life.]But it's good to hear it was different for you.
Oh I have either wonderful or terrible news for you. Colleen has been teaching Claire self-defense for a while now. I've seen Claire put on a Tekagi-Shuko and fight some of the Hand's members. Our trip to China was unforgettable.
Okay, LOL It's cool. I often thought about Colleen/Matt They might make a good team.
No, not really. Unless someone wants to bring their laptop and use Netflix's description service. Foggy used to do that when we had time.
Yeah, I remember those toys and cartoons. I heard the movies aren't that great, though.
Oh, really? Well, she's a great person, Danny. She seems to connect with you. Keep her close, there aren't many like her around. [he smiles. Ah, young love.]
Yeah, I hope Karen will feel the same way. We'll see if we reconnect.
Well, I would trust Colleen with Claire. But I doubt Colleen would want her to fight along side of us. [Matt almost spit out his beer at the thought of her in China, fighting against the Hand]
What? And she calls me stupid and reckless. I hope she's not anywhere near another fight with them.
Yes, they would! So very determined both of them, and badass
Are there any other activities you enjoy doing? [Danny lowered his voice, just in case someone could overhear. He doubted it, the bar was rather loud, but you can't never bee too careful.] That aren't related to training, I mean.
She's...I don't know how to explain it, we connect. She didn't have the easiest uprising either and she lost her family as well. Besides Colleen has seen me at my worst and still wants me. [Fidgeting with the bottle in his hand, Danny looked down.] I don't know what I would do without her.
I wish you two the best luck, Matt. Does Karen know about your...ehm...night strolls?
Ah no, Claire deserves some peace and quiet, no more getting her in trouble. Plus, Luke wouldn't like that. [Danny nods before remembering that oops, Matt can't see that.] And it was her idea to come with us, we tried to stop her. But there's no changing her mind if Claire's determined to do something. We were after Madam Gao.
I can see the Fan Fiction now! LOL Jessica Henwick is AWESOME!
Activities? If I do get the chance, I love to read, listen to music, go on walks. I don't travel; never left the city ever. [Yes, the walls have ears, Danny. Can't help being careful!]
I'm glad you found her, Danny. [Matt hopes he can be with someone like that. He just always fucks things up. Elektra, Natasha, Karen...the list goes on.]
Well, as much peace and quiet as we and Luke will give her. [he smirks playfully]
You nodded? [Another small smile]
Yeah and as much as I've tried...she won't listen. Hopefully it won't come down to her getting hurt.
[Matt did not want Claire involved in ANY fight they were in. This is not just someone who stole your purse.]
What, never? Now that needs to be fixed. What if you and Karen take a weekend off to go somewhere? Maybe that would be good for both of you.
[And if the money is a problem, Danny could take care of that. What's the point of having money if you can't pamper your friends and help the people who deserve it?] Thanks Matt, I am aware of how lucky I am.
N-no I did...okay, yeah I nodded. [And now he's clearly embarrassed about it.] Sorry, Matt.
I'm afraid that there's no changing her mind when she makes a decision. Colleen's like that too.
Nope, never. Wait, wait. Do Karen and I have a relationship that I don't know about? [he chuckles bitterly] I doubt she would want to go anywhere with me. I'd have to move heaven and earth to make it up to her. I fucked that up real badly.
Well, a friend is acknowledging it. Take a compliment, Danny. [playful smile]
No problem, Foggy did that all the time. I got used to it. Sometimes you can't help what you do naturally, body language wise. [he shrugs]
Well, Colleen, fighting wise, I would listen to, because she knows what she's talking about. Claire? Not so much. Medically? I trust her with my life.

Homemade wine? Chaste monks drank homemade wine? Wow, very progressive. It's just not very fancy, beer, shots, that kind of thing.

Warrior monks do a whole lot of things people doesn't expect. I could tell you some stories...I never had any of that Matt, don't worry. The good company will be enough.

That would be interesting. [small smile] Yeah, it'll be good to get to know you better.
no subject
Then we will talk more over drinks and Food.
no subject
Yeah, take our minds off of everything, I guess. Maybe something that isn't so Hand related? [he cracks a slight smile]
no subject
Oh that would be a really welcomed break.
no subject
Yeah, hopefully we don't hear from them soon.

No, don't get to dress down that often. In fact, most of the time I come here, is after work. Thank you, though. [small smile]
I would say the same, but...[waves hand over his eyes, with a playful smirk]
So, what's your poison? [Matt already had a beer]

I remember them. [he nods] But then I think of myself now and it seems surreal, you know? Although, without the monsters and all of that.
Oh really? I'm flattered, Danny. I'll take that as a complement. But you know, right? I'm into girls?
A toast to better futures for the both of us? [he holds up his bottle for a clink]
