[ Ey, Danny wouldn't judge too hard. He goes out at night to stop crime and had more than one bloody encounter with different Chinatown gangs. Abandoning adorable puppies is almost as bad a drug trafficking, if you ask him. Danny is already in love with the puppy, leaning forward to play with the dog's front paws or to let him gnaw on his hand playfully. ]
We have a plan for the afternoon. [ He looks up to give Loki a sunny smile as well. He doesn't have a lot of friends, let alone ones that didn't mind Danny being a little childish, and he doesn't feel like he has to prove anything to Loki when they're together. He can just be. It's nice. ]
Thanks, Loki. [ The smile was still there but a little subdued, softer. ] For spending time with me. Not a lot of people would do that willingly.
[As all pups did, Sprinkles had those tiny little raptor teeth. But he also seemed charmingly gentle-mouthed with his playful chewing of offered fingers, tail windmilling so hard that his whole back end was swinging along.]
A good plan if you ask me. We'll come back and I'll make us stupid amounts of food and we can pick something new on Netflix to watch while Sprinkles naps and likely drools on you. [Loki was... touched. That soft gratitude just gentling his expression some as he shifted to plunk down beside Danny and the pup.]
If anyone should be thanking anyone here, it's me thanking you. [He couldn't help the sheepish huff at the admission.] With my reputation being what it is, that you're willing to... give me a chance let alone be friends well... it means quite a bit more than I can put to words.
[ Those sharp teeth are a good indication that he will grow up to be a fierce warrior, no doubt. Even if the dog bit harder, chances were that Danny would be unbothered. He got a high threshold for pain, more so in his hands, from so many years of training and punching things. He just chuckled when the dog nipped at him, encouraging it after seeing that enthusiastic tail wagging. ]
You really can cook? [ Danny was already grinning at the idea because he was always on board with any plan that involved filling his belly. ] Maybe we can check if Netflix has Dumbo, for the nostalgia.
[ He wasn't picky, they could always watch whatever else Loki felt like watching, but seeing the animated movie after talking about it early could be fun. His eyes followed Loki as he sat down and was a little surprised to see that sheepish look. It was very cute too. ]
I'm happy to be your friend, Loki. People change and reputations are often inaccurate or outdated. I think it doesn't really matter who you used to be yesterday but who you're trying to become and the steps you take to accomplish it. There's a quote from Buddha that says โJust as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.โ
